THX 1138 was director George Lucas' directorial debut. Released in 1971 to a lukewarm reception, it's captured the hearts and minds of viewers around the world since. The film was a dystopian, symbolic vision of one man's escape from his daily imprisonment. It commented on many ills of society, both then and prophetically, today. The sounds and images that erupt from the film are carefully planned and wonderfully executed. THX 1138 was a film years ahead of its time. |
